Statia represented at high level water and wastewater forum in the Bahamas
Government Commissioner Alida Francis is currently in the Bahamas where she’s engaging representatives from 18 Caribbean countries and regional and international organisation in discussion on how to successfully manage water and wastewater challenges.
Ms. Francis is attending the 31st Annual Conference and Exhibition of the Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association (CWWA) at the invitation of the CWWA. It’s the first time that the Statia Government is participating in a CWWA event.
The conference gives participants an opportunity to interact with, and engage leading industry experts and professionals such as engineers, contractors, policymakers and regional and international financial institutions. It also aims to expose participants to new technical developments in the water and wastewater sectors and how these advancements can be applied locally.
The Government Commissioner will also participate in the CWWA’s high level forum on water/wastewater at which delegates will share experiences and ideas on water issues affecting the region and individual countries in pursuit of the UN's Millennium Development Goals.
The regional and international organisations and funding institutions participating in the event include the European Union, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Caribbean Development Bank, the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States, the United Nations Development Programme and UNICEF.
The Government Commissioner is the shareholder representative of Statia Utilities Company (STUCO). She is accompanied by ENI director, Anthony Reid.
