Self-sufficiency in food (planting/fisheries/butcher)
The Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality are currently looking at various projects which they may qualify as good for St. Eustatius.
These are aimed at getting a fishery up and running, helping with production and sales of locally grown fruit and vegetables and continuing support of the island’s slaughterhouse.
The Ministry believes that St. Eustatius has the right climate, soil and manpower to make food self-sufficiency a reality.
