Reports of laser activity

On May 14th, 2021 at around 8pm, while returning to St. Eustatius from Saba, the medevac helicopter crew was struck in the cockpit by a green laser light on final approach from the One Link Supermarket area. During the course of the weekend, we have had similar reports of laser activity taking place around the aerodrome.

We would like to inform the general public that laser strikes on pilots are very            dangerous because medically it causes the pilots to be grounded (unable to fly). We cannot have any pilot flying into St. Eustatius suffer these attacks let alone the medevac service who is responsible for flying out the residents of St. Eustatius in the unfortunate event of an emergency!

This kind of activity will not be tolerated. If you see someone shining lasers at aircrafts or around the aerodrome, we urge you to inform them of the dangerous nature of this activity and report this to the police immediately.
