COVID-19 Entry Policy of St. Eustatius Effective as of August 2nd, 2021

All persons, except tourists from very high risk countries are allowed to enter St. Eustatius based on the normal immigration rules.
Registration is however required before entering St. Eustatius and the requirements as described below must be fulfilled. This is applicable for people entering by boat  and people entering by plane. 

Everyone that wants to enter St. Eustatius must register through the St. Eustatius EHAS system.

Besides this the captain/owner of a vessel need to ask separately for permission to enter Statia harbor through info.covid19@statiagov.com
 

The request for entrance can be done within 72 hours before the planned date of arrival. Approval will be within 12 hours after receiving the request. 

You need to be fully vaccinated: this implies two weeks after the second shot of a two shots vaccine (Moderna, Astra Zeneca, Pfizer) and four weeks after the vaccination with the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

Testing requirements before entry based on the risk of the country of origin.

  • Persons from low risk, high risk countries and very high risk countries must have a negative COVID 19-PCR test taken within 72 hours before arriving on Statia. 
  • For trips lasting less than 48 hours (maximum 2 nights of stay outside Statia) no testing is needed upon return. Mandatory quarantine might still be applicable, but this depends on the country you have visited prior to your arrival on Statia.
     

Transit through high risk countries travelling from (very) low risk countries.

  • Persons coming from a (very) low risk country with a transit of more than 5 hours in a (very) high risk country will be treated as if they come from a (very) high risk country. 

EHAS system

Everybody entering Statia needs to register for entry in the EHAS Statia website and can only enter after having received a pre-approval in the EHAS system. 

Quarantine measures

Non vaccinated Persons entering from low risk, high risk and very high risk countries must go into quarantine upon entry for 10 days (not including the day of travel).
Vaccinated Persons entering from very high risk countries must go into quarantine upon entry for 5 days (not including the day of travel).

Exclusions from quarantine obligations: 

  • Persons coming from very Low Risk countries, no quarantine is required. However, you must have been in a low risk country for 14 consecutive calendar days (not including the day of travel). All persons will be screened on health and travel history upon arrival on Statia. 
  • Persons vaccinated coming from low risk countries : people who have received their vaccination will be exempted from quarantine if they are fully vaccinated  at least 2 weeks before (re-) entering. 
  • Persons vaccinated coming from high risk countries: people who have received their vaccination will be exempted from quarantine if they are fully vaccinated at least 2 weeks before (re-) entering. These persons will have to sign a protocol which includes behavioural advice. After 5 days they will be tested by the Public Health Department. The behavioural advice consists of social distancing, wearing a face make and hand hygiene. During these 5 days, it is not permitted to visit events. Visiting bars and restaurants is limited to outdoor seating.

Also, the following regulations apply:

  • Non vaccinated workers from high risk countries staying on Statia for a period of 10 days or shorter are welcome, but will not be tested on the 10th day and have to stay in quarantine during their whole stay.
  • The government can give permission to conduct work during the quarantine for persons entering from high risk countries and has specific protocols developed for the permission which needs to be signed by the persons involved.  
  • Persons coming from very high risk countries will never get the permission to work during the quarantine period. 
  • Tourists from very high risk countries will not be allowed to enter
     

Testing and Quarantine Regulations for children arriving from low risk, high risk and very high risk countries

Children of 11 years and older

  • Must be tested before traveling to Statia; this means that they must have a test result upon entry
  • They must go into quarantine for 5 days if they travel with vaccinated parents. They will be tested by the Public Health Department at their quarantine location on the 5th day
  • If the parents are not vaccinated, these children must also go in quarantine for 10 days (with an adult)
  • if they travel alone, they must also go into quarantine for 10 days (with an adult). They will be tested by the Public Health Department at their quarantine location on the 10th day
  • The Public Health Department can deviate from these rules if the children are between 15-17 years of age. 
     

Children between 6-11 years

  • No entry test is required for children between 6-11 years of age
  • They must go into quarantine for 5 days if they travel with vaccinated parents, just like their parents. They will be tested by the Public Health Department at their quarantine location on the 5th day
  • If the parents are not vaccinated, these children must also go in quarantine for 10 days (just like their parents). 
  • On the 10th day an exit test will be done at the quarantine location, by the Public Health Department
  • If they travelled on their own, they must go into quarantine for 10 days (with an adult). In this case, they will also be tested by the Public Health Department at their quarantine location on the 10th day.

Children between 2-6 years

  • No entry test is required for children between 2 and 6 years of age
  • If the parents are not vaccinated, the children must also adhere to the monitoring protocol of 5 days (just as their parents). In this case the children are not allowed to go to school. These children will also be tested on the 5th day (just like their parents); this will be done at the Public Health Department 
  • If the parents are not vaccinated, these children must also go in quarantine for 10 days (just like their parents). On the 10th day an exit test will be done at the quarantine location, by the Public Health Department
  • If they travel alone, they must go into quarantine for 10 days with an adult. In this case, they will also be tested by the Public Health Department at their quarantine location on the 10th day.

Children between 0-2 years 

  • No entry test is required for children between 0 and 2 years of age
  • It is not necessary for these children to adhere to the monitoring protocol if their parents are vaccinated
  • These children will not be tested on the 5th day 
  • If the parents are not vaccinated, these children must also go in quarantine for 10 days (just like their parents)
  • On the 10th day an exit test is not required for these children
  • If they travel alone, they must go into quarantine for 10 days with an adult but will not be tested on the 10th day. 
     

Travelling abroad

People are free to travel abroad, no permission is needed, however Statia residents travelling abroad from now on will not be entitled to any form of repatriation assistance and must pay for quarantine upon return, under all circumstances.  While people travelling abroad are responsible to obtain the permission to enter the destination country themselves.
The cost for Testing for travelling abroad are for the persons travelling (125 USD for a PCR test and 60 USD for rapid antigen tests). Tests can only be conducted during weekdays.
