Twinning program Bes(t) 4 kids Sint Eustatius continues coaching childcare centers
The objective of BES(t) 4 kids is to offer all children in the Caribbean Netherlands safe and affordable childcare of a high-quality standard. As a part of the twinning program Linda Blankhorst from the Dutch childcare center ‘Op Stoom’ is currently in St. Eustatius. She stays for two weeks and works closely with the daycare centers and out-of-school programs on the island.
The collaboration between childcare on St. Eustatius and the Dutch Childcare center ‘Op Stoom’ started in 2020 under the banner of BES(t) 4 kids. In that year, 6 childcare organizations on the island developed their pedagogical policy with the help of Linda Blankhorst. It describes how to deal with children in childcare. It is important that children are positively approached and with patience so that they feel safe and familiar with the group. A pedagogical policy also describes that children develop in a playful way and that the range of activities is therefore important for their personal growth. After all, what children learn in their youngest years, forms the base for their future.
Exchange program includes parents
In 2022, managing pedagogical quality in the workplace is central. During the two weeks in May the focus is, in cooperation with Linda Blankhorst, training management and the important role that adults play in the development of children. There are also parent evenings about raising children.
Linda Blankhorst: “We enjoy working together and understand each other right away because we are all experts in the field of childcare. We share so much expertise with each other and we all find attention to children positive and important. Field Coach BES(t) 4 kids, who was appointed to St. Eustatius this month, will also work closely with the program.”
A group of directors & pedagogical coaches will go to Op Stoom in the Netherlands in June through the Twinning program and in October another 4 Op Stoom employees will come to work in the childcare on St. Eustatius. This broadens the view on childcare. In the meantime, a new plan for 2023 is being worked on.
‘Twinning’ programma Bes(t) 4 kids Sint Eustatius gaat verder met coaching voor alle kinderopvangorganisaties
BES(t) 4 kids wil voor alle kinderen in Caribisch Nederland veilige en betaalbare kinderopvang bieden van een kwalitatief hoog niveau. Als onderdeel van het ‘twinning’ programma is Linda Blankhorst van Kinderopvang Op Stoom uit Nederland op dit moment op Sint Eustatius. Zij werkt twee weken mee in de kinderdagverblijven en buitenschoolse programma's op het eiland.
De samenwerking tussen de kinderopvang op Sint Eustatius en Kinderopvang Op Stoom in Nederland is in 2020 gestart als onderdeel van het programma BES(t) 4 kids. In dat jaar hebben 6 kinderopvangorganisaties op het eiland met hulp van Linda Blankhorst hun pedagogisch beleid ontwikkeld. Hierin staat beschreven hoe om te gaan met kinderen in de kinderopvang. Het is belangrijk dat kinderen positief en met geduld benaderd worden, zodat ze zich veilig en vertrouwd voelen in de groep. In een pedagogisch beleid wordt ook beschreven dat kinderen zich spelenderwijs ontwikkelen en het activiteitenaanbod daarom belangrijk is voor hun persoonlijke groei. Immers, wat kinderen in hun jongste jaren leren, vormt de basis voor hun toekomst.
Uitwisselingsprogramma inclusief ouders
In 2022 staat het managen van pedagogische kwaliteit op de werkvloer centraal. Tijdens de twee weken in mei gaat het, in samenwerking met Linda Blankhorst, over het opleidingsprogramma en over de belangrijke rol die ouders hebben in de ontwikkeling van kinderen. Er zijn ook speciale bijeenkomsten voor ouders over het opvoeden van kinderen.
Linda Blankhorst: "We werken graag samen en begrijpen elkaar meteen omdat we allemaal experts zijn op het gebied van kinderopvang. We delen zoveel expertise met elkaar en we vinden aandacht voor kinderen allen positief en belangrijk. Veldcoach BES(t) 4 kids, die deze maand is aangesteld op Sint Eustatius, zal ook nauw samenwerken met het programma."
Een groep directeuren & pedagogisch coaches gaat in juni via het Twinning programma naar Op Stoom in Nederland en in oktober komen nog eens 4 medewerkers van Op Stoom werken in de kinderopvang op Sint Eustatius. Dit verbreedt de kijk op kinderopvang. Intussen wordt gewerkt aan een nieuw plan voor 2023.
