The Public Entity of Sint Eustatius (OLE) carries out both municipal and provincial tasks on this special municipality of the Netherlands. As a Security Officer, you contribute directly to the safety and security of critical infrastructure and public facilities on Sint Eustatius. You safeguard the seaport, airport, and government buildings while supporting broader security operations when required. Working in a 24-hour operational environment, you ensure that safety procedures, aviation security standards, and regulatory requirements are consistently upheld. You are the face of our organization and play a vital role in representing professionalism, vigilance, and trust to the public.

Tasks and Responsibilities

As part of Unit Security, you help maintain a safe and controlled environment at critical public facilities on Sint Eustatius, including the seaport, airport, and government buildings. You operate within established procedures and international aviation security standards, ensuring that safety regulations and access controls are consistently upheld. In this 24/7 operational environment, you remain alert to risks, irregularities, and suspicious situations, responding appropriately to incidents while supporting continuity of operations. You provide clear guidance to visitors and staff, contribute to a professional and service-oriented security presence, and work closely with supervisors and partner agencies to protect vital infrastructure and public safety.

In this role you:

• serve as a visible and approachable security presence that promotes safety and compliance.
• monitor access and activities to safeguard facilities and restricted areas.
• identify risks, irregularities, or suspicious situations and act appropriately.
• apply security procedures and regulatory requirements consistently and professionally.
• support coordinated responses to incidents and operational disruptions.
• provide clear guidance and instructions to visitors, staff, and stakeholders.
• document incidents and report findings in accordance with procedures.
• contribute to safe, orderly, and continuous operations within a 24/7 shift system.

Job requirements

  • MBO level 2 or higher, or a high school diploma.
  • 2–4 years of experience in security or a related field.
  • Completed security training is an advantage.
  • Valid driver’s license (Category B).
  • VHF certification or willingness to obtain.
  • ICAO Basic Aviation Security certification or willingness to obtain.

  • Conflict management and complaint mediation skills.

  • Strong situational awareness and reliability.

The selected candidate may receive: 

  • Temporary employment for a trial period of one year, with the prospect of permanent employment.
  • Salary: Scale 4, gross monthly between $2.058,51 – $2.791,20 (36-hour workweek).
  • Working hours: Full-time, 36 hours per week.
  • Allowances: Holiday allowance of 8.33% and an end-of-year bonus of 8.33% of the annual salary.
  • 182 holiday hours per year pro rata based on a 36-hour working week.
  • Benefits: Inclusion in the pension fund.

What is also important to know

An assessment, case, and/or reference check may be part of the procedure. The selected candidate must provide a certificate of good conduct (VOG) and undergo medical evaluation for inclusion in the pension fund.

  • Employees of the Public Entity Sint Eustatius (internal).
  • Residents from or currently living on Sint Eustatius.
  • Residents of the Caribbean part of the Netherlands.
  • All other candidates .
