Permit for Maritime Archaeological work on site SE- 504/ Triple Wreck Site

The Unit Licenses, Supervision and Enforcement hereby informs the general public that a Permit for Maritime Archaeological work on site SE- 504/ Triple Wreck Site was provided on July 6, 2021.

The permit is based on: De wet maritiem beheer BES-artikel 6 en 20 lid 2

From August 1, 2021 to August 25, 2021 the work will take place by the Cultural Heritage Agency and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. A maritime Archaeological survey will be conducted at the shipwreck site SE-504, with the activity of constructing test pits/trenches.

The aim is:

Knowledge assimilation, knowledge building and capacity building in the run-up to the ratification and implementation of the 2001 UNESCO Convention for the Protection of Underwater Cultural Heritage.


The following conditions apply:
1.    The recommendations from the Environmental Impact Assessment are adhered to in order to minimize the impact on the fauna and flora in the waters;
2.    One or more STENAPA employees must be present at the start of the project. Throughout the project, STENAPA has access to monitor the process and progress.
