Corona support from SZW unit ends after 19 months
The ‘Tijdelijke subsidieregeling loonkosten en inkomensverlies CN’ (CN Temporary wage costs and loss of income subsidy scheme) and the ‘Regeling subsidie financiering vaste lasten getroffen ondernemingen Covid-19 BES’ (Financing fixed costs of affected enterprises Covid-19 BES subsidy scheme) will end this month.
The demissionary cabinet sees no reason to deviate from the decision for the European Netherlands, where the corona support schemes have meanwhile ended. In total, through these two schemes, around 98 million dollars were paid out on Bonaire, Saba and St. Eustatius. The execution lies with the SZW-unit of RCN.
SZW Emergency Regulation
The so-called ‘SZW Emergency Regulation’ supported employers so they could keep the employees in service, who they could not keep at work during the crisis. This benefit came from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment. According to the latest overviews 699 employers used the regulation for a total of 3535 employees. In addition, the incomes of 1079 independent entrepreneurs were supplemented, and 585 former employees (who could not keep their jobs) received a benefit through the regulation. The exact final amount is not yet known, because some cases are still pending, but it concerns a total of about 54 million dollars. The SZW Emergency Regulation ended on 13 October 2021, exactly 19 months after it started. It is no longer possible to submit an application.
EZK Compensation
The ‘EZK Compensation’ is a subsidy from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate to help entrepreneurs pay their fixed costs during the crisis. The compensation consists of six successive schemes. Based on the latest overviews, 901 entrepreneurs made use of the first scheme, 563 of the second, 457 of the third, 419 of the fourth and 453 of the fifth. To date, 290 payments have been made for the sixth scheme. Applications can still be submitted for the sixth scheme until 31 October. The total final amount seems to be around 44 million dollars.
A follow-up check will take place in the first quarter of 2022. Companies that are in the sample must substantiate the information they have given on their application form with further documentation.

Het demissionaire kabinet ziet geen aanleiding om af te wijken van de beslissing voor Europees Nederland, waar de coronasteunregelingen inmiddels gestopt zijn. In totaal is er zo’n 98 miljoen dollar uitgekeerd op Bonaire, Saba en Sint Eustatius via deze twee regelingen. De uitvoering van hiervan ligt bij de RCN-unit SZW.
Noodregeling SZW
De zogenoemde ‘Noodregeling SZW’ ondersteunde werkgevers zodat zij de werknemers, die zij niet aan het werk konden houden gedurende de crisis, toch in dienst konden houden. Deze uitkering kwam vanuit het Ministerie van Sociale Zaken en Werkgelegenheid. Volgens de laatste overzichten maakten 699 werkgevers gebruik van de regeling voor een totaal van 3535 werknemers. Daarnaast werden de inkomens van 1079 zelfstandig ondernemers aangevuld en kregen 585 gewezen werknemers (die hun baan niet konden behouden) een uitkering via de noodregeling. Het gaat om 4514 personen op Bonaire, 300 op Saba 300 en 385 op Sint Eustatius. Het precieze eindbedrag is nog niet bekend omdat een aantal zaken nog in afwikkeling is, maar het gaat om een totaal van ongeveer 54 miljoen dollar. De Noodregeling SZW is afgelopen op 13 oktober 2021, precies 19 maanden na de start. Het is niet meer mogelijk om een aanvraag in te dienen.
Tegemoetkoming EZK
De zogenoemde ‘Tegemoetkoming EZK’ is een subsidie vanuit het Ministerie van Economisch Zaken en Klimaat om ondernemers te helpen bij het betalen van hun vaste lasten gedurende de crisis. De tegemoetkoming bestaat uit zes elkaar opvolgende regelingen. Op basis van de laatste overzichten maakten binnen de eerste regeling 901 ondernemers gebruik van de regeling, binnen de tweede 563, binnen de derde 457, binnen de vierde 419 en binnen de vijfde 453. Voor de zesde regeling zijn tot nu toe 290 uitkeringen verricht. Er kan nog tot en met 31 oktober een aanvraag worden ingediend. Het totale eindbedrag lijkt rond de 44 miljoen dollar uit te komen.
In het eerste kwartaal van 2022 vindt een nacontrole plaats. Bedrijven die uit de steekproef getrokken worden, moeten de informatie die ze hebben opgegeven op hun aanvraagformulier onderbouwen met nadere documentatie.
