UNICEF: Playing together is an important fundament for the development of every child.
UNICEF Netherlands asked attention for the World Day of Play on Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba on Saturday May 28. By doing this, the child rights organization is encouraging parents, caretakers and family members to play together with the children. Playing is fundamentally important for the future of children. Small moments enjoyed together, will lead to more self confidence in children’s futures and will encourage children to develop their own unique talents.
The World Day of Play is a wonderful occasion to spend time playing together. Posters and flyers have been spread throughout the islands to raise awareness for this special day. In addition, information, including playing hints and tips, can be found on the UNICEF Dutch Caribbean Facebook channel. Schools, clubs and church communities can contribute to the World Day of Play for example by devising fun activities and actions for the children in the classroom that they can do at home. The ideas can also be conceived and developed in the context of a club or within the church community. The more attention, the more play and fun.
The World Day of Play is the start of more activities around the theme of playing and the development of children. During the next six months, UNICEF will ask for attention for the importance of playing together. The campaign will be concluded in October with an interactive theater show. During this show, children, parents and family members will get the opportunity to become part of the show, both on stage and backstage.
Win a dinner!
The World Day of Play will have a tasty follow-up for a limited amount of people. By taking a picture of your moment of play, sharing the picture through Facebook with the hashtag #WorldDayofPlay and the tag @UNICEF Dutch Caribbean you get a chance to win a dinner with your family. This dinner can be won on all three involved islands. Therefore it is important to include either the hashtag #bonaire, #statia or #saba, to make clear on which island you live.
Collaboration
The launch of the World Day of Play campaign and the activities that follow, have been realised in collaboration with the Public Entities of Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba and is part of UNICEF's BES program which is made possible by the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations.
UNICEF: Samen spelen een belangrijke basis voor ontwikkeling kind
UNICEF Nederland heeft op zaterdag 28 mei op Bonaire, St. Eustatius en Saba aandacht gevraagd voor de World Day of Play. Hiermee moedigt de kinderrechtenorganisatie ouders, verzorgers en familieleden aan om samen met de kinderen te spelen. Spelen vormt een belangrijke basis voor de toekomst van kinderen. Kleine momenten samen nu, kunnen later leiden tot meer zelfvertrouwen en stelt kinderen in staat hun talenten te ontwikkelen.
De World Day of Play vormt zowel een afsluiting als het begin van een campagne. In de week voorafgaand aan 28 mei zijn families gevraagd om samen tijd te besteden aan spelen. Op de eilanden zijn posters en flyers verspreid en daarnaast is op het Facebook-kanaal UNICEF Dutch Caribbean informatie te vinden, waaronder speeltips. De week wordt afgesloten met de World Day of Play en is tegelijkertijd een begin van meer activiteiten rondom het thema spelen en de ontwikkeling van het kind. Gedurende de komende zes maanden vraagt UNICEF aandacht voor het belang van samen spelen. De campagne wordt in oktober afgesloten met een interactieve theatershow, waarbij kinderen, ouders en familieleden de mogelijkheid krijgen onderdeel te worden van de show. Zowel voor als achter de schermen.
Scholen, verenigingen en kerkgemeenschappen kunnen een bijdrage leveren aan de World Day of Play, door bijvoorbeeld in de klas leuke activiteiten en acties voor de kinderen thuis te bedenken. De ideeën kunnen ook in verenigingsverband of binnen de kerkgemeenschap worden bedacht en ontplooid. Hoe meer aandacht, des te meer spel en plezier.
Win een diner!
De World Day of Play kent voor een aantal mensen nog een smakelijk vervolg. Door het maken van een foto van je speelmoment, deze te delen via Facebook met de hashtag #WorldDayofPlay en de tag @UNICEF Dutch Caribbean maak je kans op een etentje met je gezin. Dit diner kan op alle drie betrokken eilanden worden verdiend. De hashtag #bonaire, #statia of #saba mag dan ook niet ontbreken, zodat duidelijk is op welk eiland men woont.
Samenwerking
De lancering van de campagne voor de World Day of Play en de activiteiten die daarop volgen, zijn tot stand gekomen in een samenwerking met de Openbaar Lichamen van Bonaire, St. Eustatius en Saba en maakt onderdeel uit van het BES-programma van UNICEF dat door het ministerie van Binnenlandse Zaken en Koninkrijksrelaties mogelijk is gemaakt.
