Central Committee Meetings

The Central Committee reviews and advises on proposals and other important topics before they go to the Island Council for a final decision. Island Council members discuss and refine these issues to ensure informed decision-making. Meetings may be public or private, depending on the agenda.

Central Committee Members

The Central Committee consists of five (5) Island Council members. The independent chairman of the committee is Glenville Schmidt, an Island Council member.

Role of the Central Committee

The Central Committee helps shape the Island Council’s agenda and decisions. It reviews and advises on important topics, questions the Executive Council on relevant issues, ensuring accountability and addresses current matters affecting the island.

Residents can take part in public Central Committee meetings and may speak on most agenda items. To request to speak, registration is required at least two (2) days before the meeting. For more details, please visit the Island Council website.

Public meetings are also streamed live on the Statia Government Facebook page.
