Temporary position for a trial period of one year

The Public Entity Sint Eustatius (OLE) carries out both municipal and provincial tasks in this special municipality of the Netherlands. Tasks and Responsibilities

As an Activity Coordinator, you help organise and support activities for vulnerable residents on Sint Eustatius, including elderly people and individuals with physical, social, or mental challenges.

You create and coordinate activities that encourage social participation, wellbeing, and inclusion within the community. These activities may include workshops, group activities, community events, educational sessions, and recreational programmes.

You work closely with colleagues, volunteers, community partners, and local organisations to ensure activities meet the needs of the community and are carried out successfully.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Organising and facilitating community activities and events;

  • Developing activity programmes based on community needs;

  • Supporting vulnerable residents through accessible and inclusive activities;

  • Coordinating practical arrangements such as materials, locations, and volunteer support;

  • Promoting activities and encouraging community participation;

  • Maintaining contact with residents, volunteers, and local partners;

  • Monitoring participation and reporting on activities and outcomes.

Employment Conditions

 

  • MBO4-level diploma in Social Work, Community Development, Recreation, Youth Work, or a related field;
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in organising community activities, social programmes, or events;
  • Experience working with vulnerable target groups, including elderly people and individuals with physical, mental, or social limitations;
  • Affinity with community development, social participation, and preventative social support;
  • Knowledge of community dynamics and social services within the Caribbean context is considered an advantage;
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license B;
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when required.

  • Clear communication skills in both English and Dutch (verbal and written);
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills;
  • Ability to independently plan, organise, and execute activities and projects;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with residents, stakeholders, volunteers, and partners;
  • Empathetic, approachable, and culturally sensitive attitude;
  • Creative and proactive in developing activities tailored to community needs;
  • Ability to identify social signals and respond appropriately within established frameworks and procedures;
  • Good reporting and administrative skills.

An assessment, case, and/or reference check may be part of the procedure. The selected candidate must provide a certificate of good conduct (VOG) and undergo medical evaluation for inclusion in the pension fund.
