The Sheltered Workplace & Building Resilience for Food Security (SWPBRFS) project aims to enhance food security, social inclusion, and sustainable agricultural practices in Sint Eustatius. The initiative fosters local employment, community empowerment, and resilience-building in collaboration with local, regional and national partners and stakeholders.

As Project Manager, you oversee the planning, implementation and monitoring of the SWPBRFS project and ensure delivery against objectives, timelines, budgets and quality standards. You will work closely with implementing partners, governmental bodies, community groups and the job coach assigned to the program to ensure strong coordination, participatory decision-making and local ownership.

Tasks and Responsibilities

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation and monitoring of the SWPBRFS project, ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines and budgets. The role includes coordinating activities across sheltered workplaces, agricultural initiatives and community training programmes, and working closely with local stakeholders, executing partners (including Green Side Oasis), governmental bodies, the assigned job coach and community groups to ensure effective collaboration, participatory decision-making and local ownership.

In addition, your tasks include:

  • Manage financial resources prudently and prepare regular financial and progress reports for stakeholders and funding bodies.

  • Set up, supervise and support the project team, providing leadership, guidance and training as needed.

  • Ensure adherence to compliance, risk management and quality assurance standards throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Facilitate regular stakeholder meetings, workshops and events aimed at capacity building and community engagement.

Employment Conditions

The selected candidate may receive:

  • Temporary employment for a trial period of one year, with the prospect of permanent employment.

  • Salary: Scale 10 gross monthly between $4,325.05 – $5,613.36 (36-hour workweek).

  • Working hours: Full-time, 36 hours per week.

  • Allowances: Holiday allowance of 8.33% and an end-of-year bonus of 8.33% of the annual salary.

  • 182 holiday hours per year pro rata based of a 36-hour working week.

Required Skills and Competencies

Demonstrable interpersonal, intercultural and communication skills, with experience engaging governmental, private sector and community stakeholders.

  • Strong report-writing skills, including monitoring & evaluation and project documentation.

  • Practical, hands-on mentality.

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • Proactive problem-solving ability.

  • Cultural sensitivity and adaptability in diverse environments.

 

Additional requirements

An assessment, case, and/or reference check may be part of the procedure. The selected candidate must provide a certificate of good conduct (VOG) and undergo medical evaluation for inclusion in the pension fund.

  • Residents from or currently living on Sint Eustatius

  • Residents of the Caribbean part of the Netherlands

  • All other candidates

  • A preference will be given to candidates who are locally based.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred), preferably in Social Inclusion, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in project management, preferably in community development, sustainable agriculture, social inclusion initiatives or related domains.

  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-stakeholder projects, budgets and timelines.

  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams and support professional development.
