DCI Launches Operations from St. Eustatius

The Statia Government is pleased to confirm the establishment of a new operational base by Dutch Caribbean Islandhopper (DCI) at the F.D. Roosevelt Airport. This marks an important milestone following the agreement signed on 4 October 2024 to improve air access to the island and expand Statia’s air transport offerings.

The decision by DCI to base its operations on St. Eustatius strengthens the island’s position within the Northeastern Caribbean and creates more reliable links to neighbouring destinations, including Saint Kitts, Nevis, Antigua and Guadeloupe. The new base supports smoother inter-island travel for passengers making trips for vacation, business, family unification and onward connections through key Caribbean hubs. By increasing regional mobility and enhancing access to essential services, the airline’s presence is expected to contribute to wider economic activity over time.

Island Commissioner Reuben Merkman, who holds the airport portfolio, welcomed the development as a significant step forward for the island.

“This new development is a direct result of the commitment made on 4 October 2024 to improve air access for our residents. By establishing base operations in Statia, DCI helps us expand our air transport offerings and deliver more dependable connections for the community. This is a meaningful moment for our island and strengthens our position within the region.”

The Statia Government will continue to work with DCI as the airline develops its route network, increases flight capacity and advances its long term operational plans from Statia.
