Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG)
A Certificate of Conduct (Verklaring Omtrent Gedrag - VOG) is an official document that confirms your past behavior does not pose a risk to performing a specific job, role or task.
Assessment Process
When you apply for a VOG, the responsible authority will review whether your criminal record could affect your ability to perform the required job or role. Some offenses may prevent you from working in one job or internship but not in another. For example:
- A conviction for fraud may prevent you from becoming an accountant.
- A conviction for drink-driving may disqualify you from working as a taxi driver.
If you have no relevant criminal record, you will receive the VOG. However, if your record contains offenses that are considered relevant, your application may be denied. Offenses are assessed based on:
- The nature of the crime and its relevance to the role you are applying for.
- Whether the offense occurred within the designated review period.
