Effective 7 September 2026, Commissioner Leerdam will carry out her responsibilities remotely until 21 September. Her maternity absence will begin on 22 September and continue through 31 October, during which time she will temporarily step away from her regular government duties.
She is expected to begin a phased return to work on 2 November, with a full resumption of her duties anticipated by 16 November 2026.
All necessary political and administrative arrangements have been made to ensure continuity and effective oversight of Commissioner Leerdam’s portfolios during this period. The Executive Council will remain fully operational, while ongoing projects, policy matters, and preparations for Statia Week and Statia Day will continue as planned.
Residents, stakeholders, and partners are assured that matters falling within Commissioner Leerdam’s portfolios will receive the necessary attention and follow-up throughout her absence and phased return.
