Across all three programmes, trainees receive hands-on guidance from experienced instructors and job coaches. Baking & Pastry participants are learning essential kitchen techniques, from bread and pastries to basic food safety, and are already sharing their creations with community partners.
The Construction group, trained by Fundashon Fundeshi te Dak, is gaining practical experience in carpentry, tiling, and site preparation. Meanwhile, Painting trainees, supported by the Curaçao Opleidings Centrum voor Schilders, are combining theory and practice to master professional finishing skills and safe material handling whilst contributing to local maintenance projects.
The programmes focus on more than just technical skills. Participants also receive coaching and mentoring to help them build work discipline, improve communication, and develop teamwork skills, all vital for finding and keeping good jobs.
These programmes form part of the broader Inclusive Employment Initiative, designed to open pathways to sustainable jobs and, where possible, entrepreneurship. The initiative reflects the island's commitment to creating a skilled, empowered, and self-reliant workforce prepared to meet future challenges.
''Job Coach Larissa Rouse expressed her pride in the progress being made: "Each participant is taking meaningful steps towards personal and professional growth, contributing in their own way to a stronger community."
Phase 2 of the Job Programmes continues to make a positive impact, offering practical skills, confidence-building, and opportunities for residents to move towards stable and rewarding careers.
