The Summit gathered integrity professionals from the six Dutch Caribbean islands and the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK) to reinforce cooperation and strengthen ethical public governance. The programme emphasised the principle that the common good must guide public service and highlighted the need for resilient and transparent government institutions.
Deuring and Bosscher engaged with regional partners on practical ways to improve internal procedures, support leadership, and ensure careful and responsible handling of integrity concerns. They reaffirmed Statia Government’s commitment to promoting high standards of integrity and to learning from best practices within the region.
Keynote speaker Alejandro Salas, Head of Global Movement at Transparency International, stressed the importance of clear procedures and transparent systems in preventing misuse of authority. He noted that strong integrity frameworks require ongoing cooperation and shared responsibility, especially at a time when democratic values face increasing pressure globally.
The Summit concluded with a joint commitment to strengthen long-term collaboration through a regional platform designed to support shared initiatives, professional development and continuous exchange of expertise. Statia Government remains dedicated to contributing actively to this regional effort and to advancing a culture of integrity across the public service.
