The King is in the Game”: Men Embrace Inner Strength at the “Mind Over Muscle” Summit

The Mind Over Muscle: The Strength Within Summit took place from 18–20 November, marking an important moment for men in Statia. The summit created space for honest discussions about mental wellbeing, purpose, and personal growth. The organisers thank Gwendoline van Putten Secondary School for encouraging several of their young men to attend and participate.

Coach and speaker Joeburney Josephina led the sessions with a practical and direct approach. His keynote message—“The king is alive. The king is in the game.”—set the tone for three days of open conversation. He encouraged participants to reflect on a key question: Are you satisfied with the person you see, and are you willing to work toward the version of yourself you want to become?

This theme guided the workshops, bringing together men of different ages for meaningful reflection and dialogue.

“It was good to see men in our community, including students from GVP, take part and support one another,” said one of the organisers. “We are proud of everyone who attended. They recognised the need for personal growth and took an important first step.”

The summit ended with a noticeable shift toward connection and shared understanding, as participants built new networks of support. To continue this work, the organisers introduced a Male Mentorship Programme, ensuring long-term guidance beyond the summit.

The main message shared with attendees was clear: the journey continues. The Mind Over Muscle Summit showed that Statia’s men remain in the game—and are better prepared to move forward with focus and confidence.
