Types of Licences
Different licences apply depending on the type of business. Below are the main licences available:
Hotel Licence
The hotel licence permits the holder to operate a hotel, defined as an accommodation capable of hosting ten or more guests. This licence also allows the sale of beverages, including both high- and low-alcohol content drinks, as well as non-alcoholic options, consumable ice, and similar products. Additionally, the licence covers the provision of food for on-site consumption.
Accommodation Licence
The accommodation licence grants the holder the right to operate an accommodation facility with a maximum capacity of nine guests. This licence also permits the retail sale of beverages with a low alcohol percentage, non-alcoholic drinks, consumable ice, and similar products. Additionally, the licence allows for the provision of food for on-site consumption. However, the sale of beverages and food is restricted to registered guests and/or their visitors only.
Bar Licence
The bar licence grants the holder the right to sell retail beverages with a high alcohol percentage for consumption either on the premises or elsewhere. Additionally, the licence authorises the sale of beverages with a low alcohol percentage, non-alcoholic beverages, consumable ice, or similar products for on-site use.
Liquor Licence
The liquor licence grants the holder the right to sell retail beverages with a high alcohol percentage for consumption exclusively off the premises. This licence is tailored for establishments such as liquor stores, supermarkets, or similar businesses focused on the sale of alcoholic beverages intended for off-site use.
Liquor Wholesale Licence
The liquor wholesale licence grants the holder the right to sell beverages with a high alcohol percentage in bulk quantities for distribution purposes. This licence is designed specifically for businesses operating in the wholesale sector, supplying alcoholic beverages to retailers, restaurants, or other establishments. Not for consumption on-site.
Beer Licence
The beer licence permits the holder to sell beverages with a low alcohol percentage, along with non-alcoholic drinks and consumable ice or similar products. This arrangement is intended for retail businesses where the consumption of these products occurs on the premises.
Restaurant Licence (Type A)
The Restaurant A licence grants the holder the right to sell retail non-alcoholic beverages, consumable ice, or similar products, in addition to food that is freshly prepared on-site in the establishment’s kitchen. This licence is specifically designed for businesses where the consumption of these items occurs on the premises.
Restaurant License (Type B) / Snack License
The Restaurant B licence, also referred to as the Snack licence, permits the holder to sell retail beverages with a low percentage of alcohol, non-alcoholic beverages, consumable ice, or similar products. Additionally, the licence allows for the sale of food items that can be easily and quickly prepared on-site in the establishment's kitchen. This licence is specifically tailored for businesses where the consumption of these items occurs on the premises.
Ice House Licence
The Ice House licence grants the holder the right to sell retail non-alcoholic beverages and consumable ice, or similar products, for immediate consumption.
Association/ Club Licence
The Association/Club licence grants the holder the right to sell retail beverages with a low percentage of alcohol, non-alcoholic drinks, consumable ice, or similar products, as well as food. This licence is exclusively applicable to clubhouse establishments, allowing sales only to official members and potential members. The consumption of these products must occur on the premises for which the licence is issued.
Sales Through Vending Machines
For the retail sale of food, non-alcoholic drinks, consumable ice cream, or similar items through vending machines located on public highways or in public places for on-site consumption, the written permission of the Executive Council is required.
Music, Screenings, and Performances to the Public Licence
The licence holder is prohibited from organising or allowing music performances, screenings, or other public shows in a publicly accessible location without prior written permission from the Executive Council.
