COVID-19 Entry Policy of St. Eustatius Effective as of 14th of June 2021

All persons are allowed to enter St. Eustatius based on the normal immigration rules.
Registration is however required before entering St. Eustatius and the requirements as described below must be fulfilled. This is applicable for people entering by boat  and people entering by plane. 
 

Everyone that wants to enter St. Eustatius must register by email to info.covid19@statiagov.com. Your email must include motivation, planned date of entry, name, date of birth, nationality, which country or countries you stayed during the last 14 days and (if applicable) your preferred place to stay during the quarantine period. The request for entrance needs to be received at least 72 hours before the planned date of arrival. Approval will be within 48 hours after receiving the request.

A PCR test is a type of NAAT (nucleic acid amplification technique) test for detection of viral RNA (also other types of less common types of NAAT tests are allowed such as mPOCT, NAAT, RT PCR, LAMP and TMA)

Testing requirements before entry based on the risk of the country of origin.

  • Persons from high risk countries and very high risk countries must have a negative COVID 19-PCR test taken within 72 hours before arriving on Statia
  • Medical patients returning with ZVK organised flights from Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao and Sint Maarten are exempted from the testing requirements. 
  • For trips from Sint Eustatius to Sint Maarten lasting less than 48 hours (maximum 2 nights of stay) no testing is needed upon return, quarantine is still applicable upon return (except for persons vaccinated who will go home with a behavioural advice). 
     

Transit through high risk countries travelling from low risk countries.

Persons coming from a low risk country with a transit of more than 5 hours in a high risk country will be treated as if they come from a high risk country. 

Everybody entering Statia needs to fill in (after you received approval to enter Statia) a travel questionnaire, which can be found on the website : Questionnaire.
The form has to be filled in between 48 and 12 hours before arrival.

Quarantine measures for high risk countries

Persons entering from high risk countries must go into quarantine upon entry for 10 days (not including the day of travel).

Exclusions from quarantine obligations: 

  • For persons coming from Low Risk countries, no quarantine is required. However, you must have been in a low risk country for 14 consecutive calendar days (not including the day of travel). All persons will be screened on health and travel history upon arrival on Statia. 
  • Vaccinated on Statia, Saba, Sint Maarten, Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao & family members of Statian residents & homeowners and their family on Statia: people who have received their vaccination will be exempted from quarantine if they have received their second shot at least 2 weeks before (re-) entering. These persons will have to sign a protocol which includes behavioural advice. After 5 days they will be tested by the Public Health Department. The behavioural advice consists of social distancing, wearing a face make and hand hygiene. During these 5 days, it is not permitted to visit events. Visiting bars and restaurants is limited to outdoor seating.

Also, the following regulations apply:

  • For passengers with a stopover in a high risk country, quarantine/monitoring can be applied if the stop is longer than 5 hours.
  • If incoming passengers on a flight are from different risk categories, then the government can decide to treat them as being from the highest risk category present on the flight. The Public Health Department can issue a quarantine obligation for every incoming person, based on the screening results.
  • Workers from high risk countries staying on Statia for a period of 10 days or shorter are welcome, but will not be tested on the 10th day and have to stay in quarantine during their whole stay.
  • The government can give permission to conduct work during the quarantine for persons entering from high risk countries and has specific protocols developed for the permission which needs to be signed by the persons involved. 

Quarantine measures for very high risk countries

Non-vaccinated persons coming from very high risk countries need to stay in quarantine for a period of 10 consecutive calendar days (not including the day of travel). An exit antigen test will be conducted on or after the 10th day of quarantine and persons will only be released from quarantine after having received a negative test result. This test is executed and paid for by the public health.
Vaccinated persons coming from very high risk countries need to stay in quarantine for a period of 5 consecutive calendar days (not including the day of travel). An exit antigen test will be conducted on or after the 5th day of quarantine and persons will only be released from quarantine after having received a negative test result. This test is executed and paid for by the public health.
Persons coming from very high risk countries will never get the permission to work during the quarantine period. 
 

Children

The rules for Travel related testing are applicable for children of 12 years and older, younger children are exempted
The rules for Quarantine related testing are applicable for children of 2 years and older, younger children are exempted.
Children younger than 6 years returning with vaccinated persons who do not need to go in quarantine are not required to go into quarantine. As part of the monitoring protocol they will not be allowed to go to school or day care during the monitoring period of 5 days.
Children of 6 years and older returning with vaccinated persons do need to go into quarantine for a period of 5 days. 

Travelling abroad

People are free to travel abroad, no permission is needed, however Statia residents travelling abroad from now on will not be entitled for any form of repatriation assistance and must under all circumstances pay for quarantine upon return.  While people travelling abroad are responsible to obtain the permission to enter the destination country themselves.
The cost for Testing for travelling abroad are for the persons travelling. (125 USD for a PCR test and 60 USD for rapid antigen tests). Tests can only be conducted during weekdays.
