Front Office Employee (Civil Affairs)
The Public Entity Sint Eustatius (OLE) carries out both municipal and provincial tasks on this special municipality of the Netherlands. Together with our 180 colleagues, we work towards good governance, sustainable development and a strong community. Working at OLE means helping shape the future of a unique and resilient island.
Tasks and Responsibilities
As a Front Office Employee (Civil Affairs), you are one of the first people residents, businesses and government organisations meet when they visit the Public Entity Sint Eustatius. You provide information, answer questions and help people with important government services. No two days are the same. One moment you may be helping someone apply for a passport, while the next you are registering a birth, processing a payment or answering questions about elections. This means you need to be able to switch quickly between different tasks while continuing to work accurately and provide excellent customer service.
As a sworn Civil Registrar, you are responsible for registering important life events, such as births, marriages and deaths, and ensuring official records are complete and accurate. You work carefully, provide excellent customer service and ensure that all applications and registrations are processed in accordance with the applicable legislation and regulations.
Your responsibilities include:
Acting as the first point of contact for residents, organisations and businesses, providing information and advice.
Processing applications for passports, identity cards, driving licences, Certificates of Good Conduct, address changes and extracts from the Personal Records Database (PIVA).
Assessing applications for travel documents in accordance with the applicable legislation.
Registering births, deaths, marriages, divorces and changes of address, and checking registrations for accuracy and completeness.
Receiving payments, processing transactions in the cash register system, preparing the daily cash reconciliation and transferring funds to the Front Office Coordinator.
Providing information on voting rights during election periods and supporting election-related activities.
Carrying out preparatory and administrative support activities.
Contributing to the other activities within the team.
