Interim Unit Manager Public Health

We are looking for an Interim Unit Manager Public Health who wants to strengthen resilience and well-being on the island.

As Interim Unit Manager Public Health, you will provide leadership to a department in transition. You will ensure stability in daily operations while preparing the organisation for the arrival of the permanent manager. Your role includes:

Leading daily operations with efficient planning, coordination, and execution.

Coaching and guiding staff, fostering team cohesion and development.

Setting priorities with a clear focus on public health and community results.

Overseeing finances, HR, and annual planning.

Preparing the organisation for a smooth handover to the permanent manager.

Advising on policy and strategy with local, regional, and national partners (including VWS and RIVM).

Representing the unit in interdepartmental and sector consultations.
Arbeidsvoorwaarden

A temporary contract of 6 to 12 months on a unique Caribbean island.

Gross monthly salary according to scale 12: minimum $5,500.99 – maximum $6,884.96 (36 hours per week, depending on experience).

Holiday allowance of 8.33% and end-of-year bonus of 8.33%.

Support with relocation and settling on St. Eustatius.

Custom arrangements possible for housing and transportation.

An opportunity to gain international and tropical experience.
The successful candidate must provide a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) and undergo a medical examination. An assessment and reference check may be part of the process.

Functievereisten

University degree, preferably in Public Health.

Proven experience in leadership and change management.

Affinity with small, multicultural communities (Caribbean experience desirable).

Political-administrative sensitivity; knowledge of the Dutch health system desirable.

Strong communication and collaborative skills with a coaching leadership style.

Flexibility and creativity to adapt solutions to a small-island setting.
