Social Worker

As a Social Worker for the Public Entity Sint Eustatius, you support individuals in the community that are facing personal and social challenges in their daily lives. You manage cases, develop tailored support plans, guide and coach social support staff (life coaches), and play a critical role in crisis intervention, particularly in response to reports that come in through the Domestic Violence and Child Abuse Advice & Reporting Center. You report to the Unit Manager and are responsible for delivering high-quality, effective care that meets the needs of the community.
Tasks and Responsibilities
You will provide information, advice and guidance to individuals facing social challenges, assess their needs and develop tailored support plans. Coach and supervise social support staff, coordinate referrals and liaise with government agencies and service providers to secure appropriate support and resources. Respond to crisis calls, conduct initial assessments in cases of domestic violence or child abuse and implement emergency interventions. Work closely with colleagues to agree on effective approaches and contribute to the development of social policies. In addition to these core responsibilities, you will:
- Discuss with relevant stakeholders in the policy field, performs calculations and assesses schemes, procedures and the like for user friendliness, efficiency, consistency, (legal) correctness and the degree of acceptance by users;
- Interpret relevant Dutch legislation, policies, and regulations and translating these into practical recommendations, advice, and service improvements.
- Represent the organization in stakeholder meetings, working groups, and consultation platforms.
- Take the lead in implementing preventive debt-relief programs and budgeting courses.
- Process and manage customized care requests (Maatwerkvoorziening/MO) in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
- Provide mediation services to clients and their families to facilitate conflict resolution and improve communication.
- Manage complex and extraordinary cases requiring specialized assessment, intervention, and coordination with multiple stakeholders.
- Provide case management for psychosocial cases, overseeing the entire process from intake and assessment through intervention, evaluation, and aftercare
Employment Conditions
The selected candidate may receive:
- Temporary employment for a trial period of one year, with the prospect of permanent employment.
- Salary: Scale 9, gross monthly between $3,772.92– $5,061.23 (36-hour workweek).
- Working hours: Full-time, 36 hours per week.
- Allowances: Holiday allowance of 8.33% and an end-of-year bonus of 8.33% of the annual salary.
- 182 holiday hours per year pro rata based of a 36-hour working week. Benefits: Inclusion in the pension fund.

Required Skills and Competencies
Job requirements
- A completed bachelor's degree in social work (or equivalent);
- At least 5 years of relevant experience as a social worker.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Dutch and English;
- A strong affinity with, and understanding of, the social and youth-related challenges within the St. Eustatius community, enabling effective alignment with local needs.
