The signing marks a major step in the island’s housing development programme, aimed at increasing the availability of affordable homes for Statians and improving overall living conditions.
“This signing represents meaningful progress in our effort to deliver affordable and high-quality housing for the people of Statia. Preparing the Fair Play site allows us to move efficiently into the next phase of construction,” said Commissioner Reuben Merkman, who holds the portfolio for Housing.
Work is scheduled to commence shortly under the supervision of Civil Engineering Caribbean (CEC). Oversight will be provided by the Project Planning and Management Office (PPMO) in collaboration with the Directorate of Economy, Nature and Infrastructure (ENI).
The initiative aligns with the Statia Government’s broader vision to strengthen community infrastructure, stimulate economic activity, and ensure sustainable island development.
The contract was awarded through a transparent procurement process conducted in line with the island’s procurement regulations, ensuring value for money and accountability in the use of public funds.
