First Copy of Landscape Biographies: Statia Presented at Heritage Symposium

During the symposium on the landscape and cultural heritage of Statia and Saba, hosted by the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE) and organised in partnership with the public entities of Statia and Saba, several key moments were highlighted.

Amongst them, Island Governor Alida Francis, Commissioner of Culture Rechelina Leerdam, Commissioner of Finance Reuben Merkman, and Director of Social Domain Carol Jack Roosberg were presented with the first copy of Landscape Biographies: Sint Eustatius by Raimie Richardson, Programme Manager of the Regional Deal.

The biography was commissioned by the Public Entities of Statia and Saba and led by the RCE.

It serves as a formal record of how Statia's and Saba's landscapes and communities have evolved together over time, weaving together geology, ecology, history, culture and maritime activity, and social development into a coherent narrative. The publication illustrates how we have lived with, and continue to live in, our environment and on our islands within the spaces we inhabit.
