Among the invited guests were Island Governor Alida Francis, Island Commissioner Reuben Merkman, Island Council Members Derrick Simmons and Council Lady Mercedes Lopes-Spanner were present, along with Mr Adonis Cijntje, who attended on behalf of Councilman Clyde van Putten.
Council Lady Lopes-Spanner was invited by SEHCF Director Flip van Woerkom to cut the ribbon, formally marking the opening of the new laboratory.
Following the ceremony, guests participated in a guided tour of the facility. Demonstrations highlighted the laboratory’s upgraded diagnostic capabilities and the potential improvements in healthcare service delivery for the residents of Statia.
The establishment of the new SEHCF laboratory represents an operational enhancement in the island’s healthcare infrastructure, contributing to more timely and accurate medical testing services.
The Statia Government acknowledges the efforts of all involved in the development and realisation of the facility.
