Parents on Statia Celebrate Completion of Parent Training & Development Programme

Parents on Statia were recognised on Saturday, 27 June 2026, as The Rock – Early Family Support, in collaboration with The Spectrum Support Box, celebrated the successful completion of its ten-month Parent Training & Development Programme, equipping participants with practical knowledge and evidence-based strategies to better support their children's development and well-being.

Over the course of the ten-month programme, participating parents attended a series of interactive training sessions designed to deepen their understanding of child development and family well-being. Topics included understanding special educational needs and emotional regulation, effective communication techniques, practical behaviour management strategies, and approaches to supporting parental well-being. Through guided discussions, practical exercises and peer learning, parents gained evidence-based knowledge and practical tools to create supportive and responsive home environments.

The successful completion of the programme reflects the participants' commitment to developing the knowledge, practical skills and confidence needed to support their children's growth, learning and emotional well-being. It also strengthened their ability to advocate effectively for their children within schools and day-care settings while fostering positive, nurturing and empowering home environments.

"The strength of every community begins with strong families," said a representative of The Rock – Early Family Support. "By equipping parents with practical knowledge and effective strategies, we are investing in stronger families, healthier children and a brighter future for St. Eustatius."

The Parent Training & Development Programme forms part of the island's broader commitment to strengthening family support services, promoting inclusive child development, and ensuring that parents have access to the resources, knowledge and guidance needed to help every child reach their full potential.

The organisers extend their sincere appreciation to the participating families for their commitment throughout the programme. Special thanks are also extended to programme facilitator Ms Alicia Brookes, as well as Golden Rock School and Buzzy Bees Inn, whose valued support and collaboration contributed to the programme's success.

The Rock – Early Family Support and The Spectrum Support Box remain committed to supporting parents and caregivers through programmes that strengthen families, promote positive child development and help build a caring, inclusive community.

Together, we are empowering parents, strengthening families and building brighter futures for every child on Statia.
