The campaign is expected to begin during the week of 29 September 2026, with activities and services being rolled out across the various districts.
With several important end-of-year activities approaching and an expected increase in visitors to the island, this is an opportune time for the community to come together and demonstrate the pride we share in the island we call home.
However, the beautification initiative is about much more than preparing for visitors. A clean and healthy living environment contributes directly to the health, safety and overall well-being of our community. Keeping our surroundings clean, maintaining our homes and neighbourhoods, and taking collective responsibility for our environment reflect our cultural pride and strengthen our sense of community.
As part of the initiative, clean-up services will be provided in the various districts on a weekly rotational basis. Residents will have the opportunity to dispose of unused and unwanted materials, including bulk waste, that may have accumulated in and around their yards. Further information on the schedule for each district, the types of materials that can be collected and the collection arrangements will be communicated separately.
Residents are encouraged to use this opportunity to clean their yards, remove unnecessary items, trim overgrown areas and generally improve the appearance of their surroundings.
Homeowners who have the financial means are also encouraged to consider painting or refreshing the exterior of their homes where necessary. Recognising that not everyone is physically able to carry out this work independently, assistance will be provided where possible with painting the homes of vulnerable residents, particularly elderly persons, provided that the homeowner is able to purchase the required paint and materials. Further information on eligibility and arrangements for this assistance will be communicated separately.
The beautification campaign forms part of broader efforts to encourage community participation, social responsibility, healthy living and pride in Statia. Government alone cannot achieve a cleaner and more attractive island. The success of this initiative depends on residents taking responsibility for their own surroundings and working collectively to improve our neighbourhoods.
Every cleaned yard, refreshed home, cleared roadside and well-maintained property contributes to the appearance and overall well-being of Statia.
The entire community is therefore encouraged to support this initiative and to inspire neighbours, families and friends to participate.
