The session focused on getting ready for possible emergencies and included two important presentations.
Kariem Ahmed, from the Ministry of Defense, spoke about different crisis scenarios. He also shared plans for emergency drills that will take place in June. These drills will help teams practice how to respond quickly and work together during real disasters.
Mr. Bennett also gave a presentation. He talked about rescue operations on Statia, what has worked well in the past, and what needs to improve. He also reference key safety laws, including the BES Safety Act, which helps guide rescue efforts across the Dutch Caribbean.
The meeting comes as Statia enters the start of hurricane season. These meetings are part of ongoing efforts to help Statia prepare for disasters and improve how teams work together.
