The meetings brought together Kingdom partners to discuss developments affecting ports and the wider maritime sector. Discussions covered shared port priorities, legislative and policy requirements, and regulations relevant to the region.
The meetings also addressed matters linked to international maritime obligations and previously completed port audits under the International Maritime Safety Audit Scheme. Attention was given to progress made on audit findings and to practical steps to address remaining issues across different ports.
Broader maritime issues were also discussed, including the use of falsified ship registrations, the implementation of international sanctions, and the strengthening of maritime safety.
At the end of the week, the traditional Four Countries Consultation was held, bringing together the ministers responsible for maritime affairs and aviation to discuss shared challenges and joint solutions.
Statia’s participation ensured that the island was represented in Kingdom discussions related to port operations, maritime requirements, and continued cooperation across the Dutch Caribbean.
